Updated:
Swedish online broker Avanza Bank Holding reported net savings inflows of 7.18 billion Swedish kronor in September, up 49% from a year earlier, even as trading activity eased from August. The preliminary monthly figures, published on October 5, show inflows dipped 2% month on month from SEK 7.35 billion but remained well above September 2025’s SEK 4.82 billion.
The figures highlight a contrast between continued customer contributions and lower transaction activity. Avanza’s customer savings capital reached SEK 1.2766 trillion at September-end, while its average daily count of brokerage-generating trades and turnover in those securities both fell compared with August.
Inflows stay elevated, though below August
September’s net inflow brought Avanza’s total for the first nine months of 2026 to SEK 58.50 billion, according to Investing.com’s report on the company’s preliminary data. The September result was 49% higher than a year earlier, but slightly lower than the preceding month.
Net inflow measures new money entering customer accounts, while savings capital reflects the total value of assets held on the platform. The latter rose 1% from August and 21% from a year earlier, to SEK 1.2766 trillion. The monthly release does not break down how much of the year-on-year increase in savings capital came from customer contributions versus changes in asset values.
Trading measures retreat from August
The number of brokerage-generating notes per trading day averaged 151,200 in September, down 9% from August and 11% from a year earlier. Turnover in brokerage-generating securities averaged SEK 5.02 billion per trading day, a 7% monthly decline but an 8% increase from September 2025.
Foreign-trading turnover averaged SEK 1.56 billion per trading day, down 10% from August and up 14% year on year. Avanza’s published measure excludes mutual-fund transactions, discretionary management within Avanza Sigma and other trades that do not generate brokerage revenue, including Avanza Markets and brokerage class Start. The figures therefore describe a defined portion of trading, not every transaction across the platform.
Customer base and savings balances expand
Avanza added 19,200 customers during September, bringing its total to 2,391,100. That was 8% above the year-earlier level, and the company had added 148,400 customers since the start of 2026.
Savings-account balances were SEK 65.8 billion, up 1% from August and 49% from a year earlier. Total deposits, a broader figure reported separately, were SEK 114.2 billion: essentially unchanged month on month and 4% lower year on year.
Lending grows as quarterly report approaches
Avanza’s internally financed lending reached SEK 34.9 billion, up 3% month on month and 33% year on year. Margin lending rose 1% from August to SEK 13.8 billion, while internally financed mortgages increased 4% to SEK 21.1 billion. External mortgage lending was SEK 21.3 billion, 1% below its level a year earlier.
Avanza’s investor calendar lists its January–September interim report for October 16, 2026. That report is the next scheduled company update identified in its calendar and may provide broader financial context; the September monthly statistics themselves contain operating measures and do not explain the month-to-month movements or give a forecast.
